Exemplary Company

WehadAkron Roofing complete a new roof for us in 2021 and then replaced three skylights in 2022. Left a Clean Worksite

Ahomewepurchased developed a leak from damage to our roof that our inspector should have caught. Akron was able to diagnose the problem as well as locate other issues that the inspector missed. This was a rush job and Akron worked hard to expedite the process and move jobs around to accommodate us and get the leaks fixed in our roof saving us a ton of worry. Rodney was very knowledgeable and helpful through the whole process and his crew were hard workers and left a clean worksite for us. They gave a us a great price on our house and our new roof looks awesome!

"I'm impressed with Rodney's technical knowledge of the products he represents. He knows the pros and cons of each product and the benefits of one type/brand of shingle over another. His crew were professional. on-time, courteous and fast. Rodney came by 3 times in 2 days during roof installation to check on progress and made recommendations like adding 4 extra intake vents which my roof lacked - at no extra charge He made promises/commitments during the quote process and he and his crew kept every one of them. "Akron Roofing replaced our roof almost three years ago. Yesterday, in the middle of a crazy rainstorm, we started to get a major leak down the stove vent. Price Was All Inclusive and There Were No Surprises

"Akron did a wonderful job of replacing my roof. A few things really stood out for me:
1. Getting quote was fast and easy, and Rod provided me a professional proposal with several options and walked me through them
2. The lowest price option was still a high quality product. I wasn't looking for the cheapest - I was looking for best value. Rod listened to my desire to eventually add rooftop solar and they removed the traditional venting to go with a ridge vents to give more room for solar. The price was all inclusive and there were no surprises later.
3. Installation started several weeks earlier than I planned. They set my expectations and then came early, which is better than the alternative! They kept me informed every step of the way, when to expect materials and when the crew was planning to show up. I know roofing is a tough gig to schedule with such dependancies on weather.
4. The crew was professional and cleaned up after themselves every day. Our neighbours warned us about their roof replacement experiences and how they got flat tires from all the nails on the ground. We never got a single flat tire on our cars. I found a total of 3 stray nails that they missed over a 1 week period, which is pretty good considering the hundreds of nails they removed!
5. They managed the warranty and paperwork for me. On payment, they were flexible on credit card and cheque. I paid the final payment only after inspection. One piece of flashing was replaced which took another week to source, and paid only when the job was 100% complete."

Raised the Bar of Excellence

"Akron delivered the 'Wow" factor for us. Rod - President of Akron, arrived at our home and presented us with a folder containing Akron's quote, details about our roof, house and property including aerial photos. The folder for Akron Roofing also contained the provincial License/Registration Certificate, city Business License, Certificate of Insurance, Rod's certificates for Haag Certified Inspector-Residential Roofs, Master Elite Roofing Contractor for GAF, and CertainTeed Select Shingle Master. Even Akron's letterhead identifies all certifications. That Akron folder had everything in it. Rod knew a whole lot more about our roof even before he arrived at our home. Rod did the roof inspection to verify his appraisal/quote and our needs. After the job started, Rod was back to see how the project was progressing. After completion of replacement of the roof and eave troughs, Rod was back to do his on- the-roof inspection and addressed a few concluding details. Andrew, the technician along with his assistant Dominic knew what to do to remove the old roof and install the new roofing materials. Both carried out their reasonability professionally and with a quiet and friendly demeanor. Dedicated care was undertaken to clean up after the job was done. Absolute Faith This Job Was Done Correctly With No Corners Cut

“We are incredibly happy with the work done by AKRoN Roofing. We highly recommend them for any roof work needed and would not hesitate to use them again if needed.
We did our due diligence and had three quotes from three top roofing companies in Calgary. We chose Akron for the following reasons:
1. Customer Service - Akron was the clear choice in this regard. They provided the most detailed estimate and spent significant time with us reviewing our options for roofing material and the pros and cons of each. They educated us and allowed us to make our own decision with no pressure to use one product over another.
2. Knowledge - Rodney at Akron was the most knowledgeable of all the people who provided quotes. His concern was with providing us with the right product (based on our needs) and ensuring installation was done correctly.
3. Price - All three quotes were within a narrow band, but Akron was more than willing to price match to a similar product and installation method.
During the installation we spoke to Rodney as well as the onsite roofers every day. They always let us know exactly what they were doing, any issues they found, and cleaned up each evening before they left. They had three people working at all times on our job to ensure completion without undue delay.
Additionally, Rodney spoke to both our neighbors before the job started to ensure they could contact him directly if they had any issues. This is just one example of the many things done by Akron that add up to a great customer experience.
Not being a roof expert, it was easy to tell this crew was doing things properly and methodically. We have a parapet with a low angle roof on a small part of our house, and Rodney had his flat roof expert spend an additional 1.5 days (1 day budgeted) on this portion of our house, and with no additional cost. I have absolute faith this job was done correctly with no corners cut.
Regarding the look of the new GEM Euroshield roof, it's hard to take a picture that does it justice, especially since I'm not going up on the roof to get pictures for a google review :-). In person the product looks amazing, and with the quality of installation I believe this roof will last a very long time.
We would give Akron 7 starts if we could. Highly recommended, and once you meet Rodney to discuss your roofing needs I am sure you will have a similar experience to us.

Very Impressive

“Akron came and gave us a quick quote. They first came out and did a roof measurement without getting on the roof, but using a device to get an accurate measurement of the roof square footage in 3D. Then Rodney came out and explained what they did and what product they have with a price for all three types of roof materials. They explained what they would do and what products they can offer. Their price had little to no extras, so what you saw is what were charges. Once we agreed to have them come and do the job, it was very quick, considering it was winter still. We placed an order for which colour and type of roof we wanted and within a few days the product was delivered. They came the next day and installed the roof on the entire house in one day. They worked quickly and were very good at cleaning up afterwards. All I can say is it was very impressive at how professional the whole company was from top to bottom. Thank you Rodney and Akron”

"Our roof was a job most roofing companies would cringe at - if you can get them to take it on at all! A 12-pitch roof, with a 3-storey drop, requiring cedar shingle removal. The crew took it on with a vengeance, and even with the weather dropping to -10C, they worked every day, with the exception of one when the roof was too slippery from the snow that fell! And that day, they still came by and apologized that they couldn't work as it was unsafe. Excellent work ethic.We took our time to decide on our final product and Rod and Deanna took my inquiries and answered my questions. They even did up sample boards for us to see the difference between the shake and the slate look. "Our first encounter with AKRoN Roofing was at the Calgary Fall Home Show. Deanna was very easy to talk with about redoing our roof and showed us the different products they offered, then agreed to have someone come out and assess our roof. Rod followed up and was truly professional as he talked about our project and the roofing industry. He was thorough in all his explanations and went over the products they used and explained them all to us. He then provided us with an estimate for three different levels of shakes fully explaining the qualities of each level. He thoroughly went over their work process and how they would install all facets of the roof. After considering all out options we hired AKRoN Roofing. The work crew was exceptional. "My roof was in a pretty poor state and I knew that another winter was going to give me a few sleepless nights. I contacted six companies in November 2016, four returned my call, two didn't. I had promised AKRoN Roofing back in 2011 that when I needed a new roof I would contact them. One company pestered me for days after meeting with them, so of course they did not get the job.Rodney is a true gentleman. He personally came to my home, sat and explained everything that I needed to know, gave me choices, and without pressure showed me why I should hire his company to keep me safe dry and warm for the next 20 plus years. He was very kind with his estimate, meeting my budget and those of other companies that I had received quotes from.It was during the last ten days of November 2016 that the weather changed for just a few days, the temperature rose and the sun shone, and AKRoN Roofing was able to build me a fine new roof. Because the days were shorter the men Andrew and Brent, only had a short window to work in and were only working for about seven hours each day but they were amazing and completed the roof in just four days. By the end of the Friday afternoon everything was back to normal, not a nail to be found! The next week Rodney came to inspect their work, he checked out the attic and assured me that everything was in order. Kind & Generous

"During the high winds of November, 2011, we lost some shingles from the south side of our roof. We waited until MAY of this year for the adjuster from the insurance company to come and take a look. The roof where the shingles had been was covered by a small tarpaulin that another roofing company had provided at that time. The insurance company turned us down for a new roof, so that meant we had to find someone who would come and replace a few shingles for us. The previous company who had covered it for us last November was not interested, only in putting on a new roof. I called three roofing companies (who had delivered their flyer to our mail box) all on the same day. Within an hour or so Rodney called us, he promised to send someone to look at it, and within 24 - 36 hours Andrew rings our doorbell, takes a look and in less than 40 minutes we had our shingles replaced! Meanwhile, we still waited for the other two to call us….After Andrew had left, an hour or so later Rodney calls. This kind man told us that there would be no charge for the shingles or the labor. What an amazing blessing this was to us as seniors. Thank you Rodney for your kind generosity, and we will certainly contact you again when our roof needs replacing. We wish you and your business much success and favour with all of your clients in the future. We hope that you will be able to find time to take that much needed vacation with your son!"

"After getting estimates from several businesses, I found a flyer from these guys in my mailbox and gave them a try. I was instantly impressed by the pair of fellows they sent out to look at my leaking roof, who gave me a no-nonsense run-down of costs. They also saw the government-issue CADPAT jackets hanging in my front entryway and told me the owner sometimes gave discounts for military personnel. I was very impressed by that. The owner in fact came out to talk during the work. He was personable and never came off as a huckster – he has obviously been in the business for a while and spoke eloquently about the technical merits of the materials he was providing, why certain work was being done, etc. He was very candid about what I did or didn't need and I never felt like he was trying to sell me the most expensive materials or cheapest labour. The workers were all bonded and my yard was cleaned up afterward to my satisfaction. Nothing was damaged. I would certainly recommend this company to anyone else."

Safety, Quality & Competitive Pricing

"To all my Calgary friends, this may not be of any value to you right now, but if you are in the market for a new roof, read on. We had our roof replaced last week and I am sending out this email to recommend the roofing company. The company is AKRoN Roofing and the owner's name is Rodney Gabrielson. They were recommended to me by a friend - thanks Brian! Rodney arrived and the first words he said was that he runs a relatively small company, takes care of his guys and takes pride in putting safety first. I didn't really believe this at first, knowing that the roofing industry generally has a bad reputation when it comes to safety, however, his crew were wearing gloves, eye protection and harnesses. I was truly amazed. They crew working on my home were a team of 4, most came from Georgia (Cacusus region), but language was not a barrier. They were hard working, steady and did a top notch job. They kept the place clean and tidy and did a fabulous job of cleaning up at the end. Not one nail or piece of debris was left behind after the 3 day job. The price was also competitive - so it is possible to get safety, quality, and cost in a successful job. The entire job was run well and professionally, truly amazing and great to see as there are a number of shady contractors out there. They do business by word of mouth and value referrals.
